Wines and herbal teas.

So a few days ago we picked the last of our pea harvest. Bagged up the peas and froze them for use though out the year.

We don’t watch any TV but we decided to re watch (The good life)

With our son.

Do you remember it? Tom and Barbara who have ago at being self-sufficient in thier back garden.

Well they made pea pod wine.

Guess what we saved the pea pods from our pea harvest.

We are having ago at our own pea pod wine as well fingers crossed!

This week we’ve had frosts in the mornings and a icy cold wind.

The Hawthorn trees have lost thier tiny little green leaves.

The bright red jew like berries will start dropping soon.

So I stood at the row of Hawthorn trees in my garden. Listing to the icy wind, bird Song as I picked some hawthorn berries.

Which I hope to dry and preserve to make hawthorn tea over the winter month.

I’ve read it’s good for heart health and lowers cholesterol.

Fingers crossed it doesn’t taste to yuck 😉🤞.

I’ve been unwell but at last I’m turning a corner 😉

OK so it’s been a couple of months now that I’ve not written anything about what we’ve been up to.

I’ve felt truly unwell.

Some how I got vitamin b12 deficiency.

My legs felt weak and jelly like, I had pins and needles all the time racing heart and head ache s.

I don’t think I’ve ever felt that terrible.

Now on b12 injections weekly.

Thankfully turning a corner now 😊.

Still doing things in garden just alot slower.

Jelly legs are recovering and that’s helped loads.

So heres some pictures of what we’ve been doing in the garden.

Few days ago had our final pea harvest.

Still picking the last of our tomatoes and green pepper s at end of Oct not bad! Also still finding things to grow in the polytunnel s so that’s all good.

Warm bright day

It’s been a nice warm bright day.

Weve got a heap of pine wood chopped for the fires over winter.

This has been drying out in our polytunnels where temperature inside them today was 40c.

Great space for drying clothes washing and wood plus growing veg😉.

I’ve picked some lavender to dry for its scent for our home.

Then this afternoon visited a nice home educating family..

So us adults could have a chat and the boys play.

On leaving my friend gifted me with the prettiest green /browny eggs from her chicken.

So nice.

Drying out the wood

My pretty eggs.

Fruits here 👍

So the garden is coming alive with fruit.

Mainly blackcurrants and a few gooseberry s.

The apple trees even after treating the aphids with neem oil and feeding them with chicken poo pellets and wood Ash from the fire they still look sickly, 😭.

We may get quite a few apples from one healthy tree but the other s are not in great shape.

Once seasons over we will have to prune and see if they get better?

However so far 8lbs of blackcurrant s picked.

8 jars of blackcurrant sauce made for pouring on ice cream or Yogurt.

3lbs fresh blackcurrant s frozen.

If no rain over next few days will pick more to freeze and then hopefully still have enough for jam making.

Back from Wales, Home to Ireland.

Well it was a sad time watching our beloved Matilda van sell at a loss. Due to the fact she failed the Mot. She would have cost to much for us to repair, plus the garage could nt fit her in to do the welding work that week and we had time limits as we were only able to stay in Wales for 2 weeks.

It was a busy crazy few days getting our belonging home to Ireland.

Like I said in the last post we are so pleased and relieved to have achieved moving ourselves and belonging alone to another country. I myself am very proud of that very determined husband.

The best part of spending time in Wales. Had to be the wonderful amount of time kay spent with our son.

It was so good for him to bond with an older lady who has so much knowledge to share with him about her farm animals.

Amazing down to earth friendly soul.

To remind us of all our lovely trips to Wales.

We got a cute bunny Teddy made out of a vintage handmade welsh blanket. She’s to sit in our home and remind us of all the adventures we took to get to this stage in our lives.

We’ve named her cwmiar after the farm in Wales and kay after our friend.

Cwmiar Kay 😊

It’s been achieved! 😉

Well what an amazing husband I have.Within the space of 1 week we’ve loaded the hire van twice. Then my husband took 2 trips from Wales over to Ireland. With 2 small van loads of our belonging.Which meant 4 ferry journeys!! Then we all returned to Ireland together to settle for good in our new home and country. So we’ve completed moving our belonging with no help just us!!We paid loads less doing ourselves and not hiring help or removal company. 😁😁🤔.Result we are so pleased we achieve this. One empty storage unit at last.

National Botanical Garden s Wales.

There’s gardens were more amazing than we ever dreamt they would be.

The world largest single panel glass house.

Taking plants from all the 7 continents.

Was nick name the Noahs arc of the plant world.

Both my son and I stood at the entrance Jaws dropped in awe.

My sons words wow this is paradise!

It was really something.

There’s also a butterfly house which was wonderful.

Other areas vegetable and edible flower gardens.

Beautiful flowers everywhere.

It was a really special day one to remember.

Below the great flower photos my boy loved taking that day.

We saw our worldly belongings today! (After 8 months)

Today we went to the storage unit in Wales. Where our worldly belongings have been stored for the past 8 months.

We had given alot away and thrown stuff out before we left UK on a downsizing mission, not that we had a huge amount of stuff in the first place .

However I’ve not missed any belonging in the whole 8 months.

I really haven’t.

Infact I might get rid of more as I’ve enjoyed living very light.

Really shows how little one really needs. However we’ve got quite alot of tools as we’ve always repaired and made things. Husband is very pleased to get them back.

We’ve got a hire van.

We all helped fill the van with boxes until its full.

Tonight my husband will drive the hire van. From Wales to the ferry and over to Ireland.

Unload van at home in Ireland, then return to Wales.

All within a couple of days.

Then repeat the whole process again with a second van!

If he’s enough energy.

Hats of to him he’s amazing ❤️.
